Youth and Family Capacity Building Project

This project is funded by the Department of Families, Housing, Community Services and Indigenous Affairs (FaHCSIA) to help Cambodian young people and young families from Cambodia (aged between 15-35 years) in Fairfield, Liverpool, and Campbelltown LGAs who lack access to:

  • Education and training
  • Recreational activities

    Brighter Parents Brighter Children Project

    This project is funnded by the NSW Department of Housing. This project is a great opportunity for parents and children to learn and share new ideas in a relaxing environment.

    We provide:

  • Activities to assist children’s development
  • Activities and play time for children
  • Health and child development information and discussion
  • Information on local services and mainstream service provider.
  • Settlement Grants Program (SGP)

    The SGP worker is a resource person involved in community development who can assist Khmer and mainstream organisations. The worker aims to:

  • Liaise with professional workers and service providers on the needs of recently arrived Khmer migrants, refugees and humanitarian entrants, and means of providing them with equitable access to services
  • facilitate and improve communication between existing and emerging Khmer organisations and workers by assisting in the establishment of appropriate organisational infrastructures
  • enhancing workers and management committee members skills.

    Dementia Project

    Dementia Project is funded by Department of Health and Ageing . Sophea will be working in partnership with Fairfield Multicultural Health Service (FMCHS), SSWAHS Area Ethnic Aged Health Service and the Dementia Association to raise awareness in the Cambodian community of dementia through appropriate community educational activities and health promotion programs.
  • Community Partners Program (CPP)

    This project is funded by the Department of Health and Ageing under the Community Partners Program to promote and facilitate increased and sustained access by the Cambodian community with significant aged care needs to support services.

    Target Group

  • Older people of Cambodian backgrounds who would like to access aged care services.
  • Aged care service providers who would like to provide culturally appropriate care to Cambodian older people.

    Services

  • Create awareness of aged care services to Cambodian community
  • Facilitate information to mainstream aged care services regarding Cambodian culture and older people’s needs
  • Link with appropriate age care services and support the needs of Cambodian elderly people
